What Is the Command Palette
The command palette is a keyboard-driven search bar that lets you navigate the app, control surveys, add questions, and change settings — all without leaving your keyboard or hunting through menus. Open it with ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux. Type a few characters to filter, press ↑↓ to move between results, and press Enter to run the highlighted command. Press Escape to close it.
Open and Close the Palette
Open: Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows / Linux) from anywhere in the app. The palette appears near the top of the screen.
Search: Start typing immediately — the list filters as you type. You do not need to click the search field first.
Navigate results: Use the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys to move through the list. The highlighted command is shown with a filled background.
Run a command: Press Enter to execute the highlighted command. You can also click any command directly.
Close: Press Escape, click the backdrop, or run any command — the palette closes automatically after running.
Navigate Between Pages
Type any of the following to jump to a page without using the sidebar or header navigation:
- Surveys — returns to your main survey dashboard.
- Library — opens the workspace and community library.
- Panels — opens the participant panels page.
- Help — opens the help center.
- Settings — opens your personal settings.
- Account — opens billing and account details.
- Notifications — opens the notification panel.
These navigation commands are always available, regardless of which page you are on.
Survey Actions
When a survey editor is open, the palette shows a Survey group with actions for that survey. These commands appear on any editor tab (Block Builder, Flow, Preview, Deploy, or Export).
Open Block Builder / Flow / Preview / Deploy / Export — switches directly to that tab. The command for the current tab is not shown.
Open Version History — opens the version history slide-over panel so you can review or restore a past snapshot.
Copy Survey Link — copies the public participant URL to your clipboard.
Publish Survey — publishes the current editor state so participants can access it.
Unpublish Survey — removes the published snapshot so the public link no longer serves the survey.
Add a Question (Block Builder Only)
When you are on the Block Builder tab, the palette shows an Add Question group listing every available question type. Running one of these commands creates a new question of that type and appends it to a block.
Which block does it go into? If you have expanded or clicked into a specific block before opening the palette, the new question is added to that block. If no block is focused, it goes into the first standard block. When there are multiple blocks, the destination block name appears in the right-hand description column of the command row.
- Open the palette with ⌘K while on the Block Builder tab.
- Type the question type you want — for example, multiple choice, slider, grid, or ranking.
- Press Enter. The question is created and the block scrolls to show it.
Survey Options (Block Builder Only)
When you are on the Block Builder tab, the palette includes a Survey Options group with bulk actions that apply a setting across your entire survey at once.
- Require All Questions — marks every question in the survey as required.
- Page Break After Every Question — adds a page break after each question, placing each one on its own page for respondents.
- Page Break After Every Block — adds a page break at the end of each block.
- Shuffle All Multiple Choice Options — enables answer randomization on every multiple-choice question.
- Shuffle All Grid Matrix Rows — enables row randomization on every grid matrix question.
- Randomize All Block Questions — enables question-order randomization within every block.
- Toggle Record Time Per Page — turns page-dwell-time capture on or off. When on, Domandata records how long each respondent spends on each page.
Question Options (Focused Question Only)
When you have expanded a question card in the Block Builder and a question is focused, the palette shows a Question Options group with commands targeting that specific question. The question title is shown in the description column so you can confirm you have the right one.
Make This Question Required / Remove Required From This Question — toggles the required state. The label reflects the current state, so you always know what pressing Enter will do.
Add Page Break After This Question / Remove Page Break After This Question — toggles a page break immediately after that question.
Search Tips
The palette uses fuzzy matching, so you do not need to type exact words:
- Partial words work — pub matches Publish Survey.
- Middle-of-word matches work — flow matches Open Flow.
- Keyword synonyms are indexed — typing live finds Publish Survey; typing share finds both Copy Survey Link and Publish Survey.
- When there is no search query, commands are grouped by category. When you type, results are sorted by relevance across all groups.
