How Do I Create a Classroom?

Set a classroom's name, seat count, semester dates, and class code, then pay the one-time $5/seat charge to create it.

How Do I Create a Classroom?

Open Settings → Upgrade and look for the Classroom card below the individual plans. Selecting it opens a short setup form:

  1. Name the classroom — e.g. "Statistics 101, Fall 2026."

Step 1: Set up a classroom

  2. Set the number of students. This is your starting seat count — you can buy more later if the class grows (see How Do I Add More Seats to a Classroom?).
  3. Set the semester's start and end dates. Access for students automatically ends on the semester end date (see What Happens When a Classroom's Semester Ends?).
  4. Choose a class code, or generate one. Students use this exact code to join — see How Do I Join a Classroom as a Student?.
  5. Pay for the seats. Classroom seats are $5 each, billed once for the whole semester — not a recurring subscription. The classroom is created only after payment succeeds.

Creating and managing a classroom requires the Pro plan. Classrooms are also currently in beta, so the card only appears for accounts enrolled in the beta program — see What Is a Classroom?.

Once it's created, you'll find its ongoing settings — class code, roster, seats, and submission mode — in Settings → Account, next to Team settings. See How Do I Manage My Classroom's Settings?.
