What Saved Credentials Are For
Saved credentials let Domandata features use external services without asking you to paste a secret every time. They can support AI features, text chat, Silicon Samples, email sending, SMS sending, OSF, and other integrations your workspace enables.
Saved credentials are different from Domandata API keys. Domandata API keys let outside scripts pull response data from Domandata. Saved credentials let Domandata call another provider on your behalf.

Add A Credential
Step 1: Open Settings. Go to Settings from the app navigation.
Step 1: Open Settings
Step 2: Find Keys or the provider-specific section. Use Keys for saved provider credentials and OSF Integration for OSF tokens.
Step 3: Choose the provider. Select the service the feature will call, such as an AI provider, email provider, SMS provider, or OSF.
Step 4: Name the credential. Use a name that explains the owner and purpose, such as Lab OpenAI key - pilot testing or Twilio reminders - Fall panel.
Step 5: Save and test in the feature. Return to the survey feature that needs the credential and confirm the correct key appears in its picker.
Step 5: Use In Export
Choose The Right Credential For Each Feature
- Text Chat questions: use an approved AI credential that matches the model and privacy requirements for respondent-facing conversations.
- Silicon Samples: use an AI credential intended for synthetic dry runs, and separate it from production research workflows when possible.
- Email or SMS sending: use provider credentials owned by the team responsible for participant communications.
- OSF: use a token from the account or project owner who should manage the open-science record.

Credential Safety Checklist
- Store provider secrets only in Settings, never in survey text, code, or public documentation.
- Use one credential per service, team, or workflow so access can be revoked cleanly.
- Rotate credentials when a teammate leaves, a project ends, or a secret may have been exposed.
- Delete credentials that are no longer used by active surveys, exports, or integrations.
- Confirm cost and usage limits with the provider before running large AI, email, or SMS jobs.
